About Jules BarnardJules Barnard is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. She attended UC Davis, whose college landscape often finds its way into her New Adult novels. She has a Master’s degree and spent many an hour running statistical analysis, until she realized her favorite part of the job was writing reports. She decided to cut out the math and add in some hot guys, and so began her career as a novelist. Jules is a Northern California native living on the coast with her husband and two children. She has no impulse control around cupcakes and credits herself with the ability to read while running on the treadmill or burning dinner.
Kobo: coming soon!
“You told me you weren’t interested.” My tone is challenging now.
“Those weren’t my words.”
“It was implied.”
Zach fingers his hair forcefully, making it stick up in spiky wet clumps. “I think you should put the shirt back on.”
“Why? You’ll still be able to see my nip—”
“Don’t say it.”
“—ples. What’s wrong, Zach? Got a problem?”
He grins, and my entire body begins to shake. His smile, those full lips. A little less magnetism would help me right about now. As it is, I want to launch myself at him.
Zach takes his time, wreaking havoc with his tongue and not giving a damn that he’s driving me insane—the way he’s done for the last year and a half. Though I will happily put up with this form of insanity and live a contented lady, I wouldn’t mind moving things along.
“I’m a weak man, Nessa. Don’t do this.”
“You don’t seem like a weak man, Zach. We’ve been friends for over a year, and you’ve never once made a move.”
“Well, not for a lack of wanting!”
He kneads the curve, then slides his palm up and down as if mapping it out. “I own this ass.”
Interesting. I never took him for the possessive sort. “Oh yeah? Well, I claim these shoulders. And your muscled butt, and that thick, long—”
My words get cut off by a kiss so tender it stuns me. And I don’t want to talk anymore. I want to be held by the guy who baffles me one minute and make me half-crazed the next.
He raises his head and kisses me until I can’t breathe. I don’t even want to. Who needs oxygen for a brain when your heart has known all along what was right? Should never have doubted my heart.
My heart is a genius.
